I finally got the courage to ask Urasawa-san for a photo. I’m such a big fan. LOL

I’ve been very fortunate to dine at Urasawa twice in my life. Always an amazing experience everytime.
I didn’t get a chance to take photos of everything. I also lost count of how many items I ate.
Below are photos from both visits to Urasawa.

Sit back and get ready to start drooling. It’s best you ate dinner before scrolling down, or else…
Don’t say I didn’t warn you :)
いただきます.

Toro Tataki : Seared toro wrapped in ebi, uni, and shiso. Wrapped with radish and topped with fresh scallion garnished with yuzu, soy sauce, vinegar, and sweet sake.

Ikura Chawanmushi there’s no other way to describe this then call it HEAVEN IN MY MOUTH.

Caviar Spoon
Absolutely breathtaking flavors.

Truffle Uni Chawanmushi
I’m in love with this delicate soft egg custard and fragrant truffles. I love Truffles and Uni, so why would I not be in love with this dish. Yes I’m in LOVE.

Toro from Boston
Tai from Kyushu
Uni from Hokkaido

Urasawa-san preparing all of our dishes in front of us.

Toro seared before my eyes.

Patiently waiting…

One bite and I was in heaven again. Really wish I can have another order.

The dining experience just keeps getting better throughout the night.
Shabu Shabu~

Not just any kind of shabu shabu, but fresh ingredients from the ocean and land.
Kobe beef, Fresh lobster that was moving and being prepared by Urasawa-san, Scallop, and Foie Gras.
I feel like a Japanese Princess dining at her royal palace.

Uni and Lobster

Just UNI. I can eat ten of these.

I think I’ve tried 4 different desserts here at Urasawa. This one is my favorite. Sesame ice cream covered with Truffles. Each bite was heavenly.

I have to thank my old manager, friends, and my investors from Japan for flying in from Japan and inviting me to join them at Urasawa.
I’m completely blessed and grateful.
I can’t wait to visit Urasawa again.
Urasawa-san Gochi sou sama deshita. Domo arigatou gozaimashita. ごちそうさまでした. どうも有り難うございました.

Just another weekend in Las Vegas.
Of course the first thing I wanna do when I get here is EAT.

There are so many great dining options in Las Vegas. What’s a girl to do?
I pretty much had to narrow the restaurants down to my favorite Chef = Jose Andres

Since I’m such a big fan of The Bazaar it was a no brainer that my immediate choice would be China Poblano. Chinese and Mexican fusion small plates by Jose Andres. Being my adventurous self, I had to try it.

Now…time to tickle my taste buds.

Silencio (fresh lychee /duck tongue)

Carnitas (braised baby pig/pork rinds/spicy salsa verde cruda)

Viva China (soft beef tendon/ kumamoto oyster/scallions/ sichuan peppercorn sauce)

And the winner is: Silencio taco~ This taco is amazing~ love the way the fresh lychee melts into the duck tongue. I can eat 3 of these or more :)

Rou Jia Mo Street Sandwich~red braised pork

Like Water for Chocolate (fried quail/ dragon fruit/rose petals/chestnut/ dragon fruit sauce)

When Pigs Fly (chinese barbeque pork steamed buns)

Nope, I didn’t forget my vegetables.

Palmitos (Hamakua Farms hearts of palm/grapefruit/tamarind dressing)
This dish was so delicious and refreshing I can have it everyday.

Sea salt air foam pomegranate~

Yes I got my Happy Ending, can’t you tell?

Mango Sticky Rice
This wasn’t just any mango sticky rice, it was Jose Andres version of it~ and it was absolutely perfect. I loved it so much I think I finished the whole bowl in 5 minutes. I think there was a hint of sriracha in the mango sorbet hidden in the center?
Can I have another bowl of mango sticky rice please?

I just got back from S.F.
It was a busy weekend making music in the recording studio and shooting a music video right after.
Big thank you to Hotpa, John, Clay, Swerve and Barry for making all this happen.
The night before my music video, I was actually gonna stay in and get some beauty rest, but one of my good friend Kim suggested I attend her cousin’s wedding. I’m a big fan of wedding food, so I couldn’t resist. Good thing I went because that was my only night off to actually hangout with my friend Kim.

My friend and I got all dolled up for the wedding.
She is wearing: Adrianna Papell + Bebe earring + Christian Louboutin.
I am wearing: Willow & Clay Pasley Maxi Dress + Nordstorm Green Feather Earring + Vintage Pierre Cardin Belt

I really love my MAXI DRESS!!!!!!!!
Sheer and flowy~

Cheers to the wedding food~
It was a 10 course Chinese Wedding Ceremony.

Jelly Fish, Seaweed, and Pork Skin.

Peking Duck, Abalone, Shrimp.

Sea Bass, Lobster, Fried Rice.

Our Grand Exit~

Note to self: Do not wear a tight belt to weddings, will hinder eating process.

As the seasons change, I can barely feel this Los Angeles heatwave, thank goodness.
In most Asian countries we celebrate this seasonal change with hot tea, mooncake, and family stories.
We call it Mid-Autumn Festival 中秋節. Also known as Moon Festival, Mooncake Festival or Zhongqiu Festival.
Only during this time of the year will I allow myself to chomp down mooncakes packed with salted egg yolk, mung beans and all sorts of random fancy goodies.

Last month, I was in Vancouver reminiscing chinese culture while roaming the streets of old and modern Chinatown. My photographer Michelle Chen, styled me in some really beautiful vintage Cheongsam dresses. While some photos are pending release on certain publications, I’m free to release these photos. I love the make-up and hair, thank you Annie.

Hope everyone is enjoying Mid-Autumn Festival, and hope everyone gets a chance to try mooncake. It’s delicious.

I finally made it to Japa Dog.
Oh how I miss Tokyo and Vancouver.

The toughest part was what to order, because I wanted to eat everything. Japa Dog was literally our second lunch, because we just ate Fritz.

My cousin and I, eyeing our Japa Dogs~

My cousin has a strange passion for fried foods, so she got the Tonkatsu Dog, which doesn’t have a hot dog.

I was suckered into trying the rice patty bun, so I decided to order the Yakiniku Rice.

After a few minutes of chomping down half my hot dog, I decided to add their in-house wasabi mayo, pickles, peppers, relishes, sauerkraut, etc…etc…

Call me crazy? or call me a foodie?
A few months ago, I stopped by a hip and hormone free friendly burger joint named Kalbi Burger.
Then a few weeks ago I was asked to be a burger contender for Kalbi Burger. Of course without hesitation, I said yes.

This Sunday, July 24th 2011
I’m going eat four burgers (bigger then the size of my head) in 10 minutes. OMG!
…more info here

I’m really excited and I can’t wait to EAT, MEAT (oops I meant MEET), & GREET!
Wish me luck :)
See you all there.

LOVE,
AiCherie

Miss roaming the streets of Vancouver… lovely Cherry Blossoms Trees… and little ‘ol me in my vintage Scallop cut Jacket.

When I was up north in SF, it wasn’t all work and no play. Well, maybe all work and very little hours of play.
My mom and I did have a chance to stop by Rue Saint Jacques.

After shooting my music video LAFS, all I can thinking about was eating a nice meal in SF.
These Scallops are so delicious. I can’t wait to go back.
Although irrelevant to the topic of scallops, I also stopped by Kara’s Cupcake (my favorite cupcakes).

Now how about Scallop flavored cupcakes? Dare I say…

‘Til next Foodie Friday…

LOVE,
AiCherie
